What does Sustainable Property Developer is?
It’s about using sustainable materials such as …. These materials are available to sample on the store and web page. Since I started to research I have been obsessed with sustainable material from day 1. My knowledge has grown
Conservation through restoration
If you are ready to take a bigger step, you will become stronger than ever becoming part of the society. Find out more about this here.
Aim
My aim is to protect our island to keep its heritage by minimising inappropriate development. Our goals can’t be achieve alone, we are here to start a new journey together to become stronger than ever before. Is to inspire a sustainable lifestyle to enable people to live more sustainably by providing ethical and honest products that last a lifetime.
What means a sustainable live?
The benefit of sustainable living are beneficial for everyone.
Sustainable Future
We want to create the very best kitchens without jeopardising the wellbeing of future generations. Our goal is to ensure that our business practices respect environmental limits, avoid the depletion of resources, and recognise the interconnectedness of a healthy economy, society and the environment.
Responsible Manufacturing
The wellbeing of our planet depends on sustainable business practice. As a manufacturer, we recognise our responsibility to reduce the consumption of energy, water and raw materials, to minimise the loss of habitat and biodiversity, and to reduce waste and emissions. By manufacturing predominantly in-house, we have greater control over the environmental impact of our production. We are able to monitor this impact closely by measuring our performance and selecting suppliers carefully.
We are committed to preventing the pollution of the watercourse, air and ground, and to operating in a manner that meets all current legislation. We aim to reach beyond our legal requirements so that we operate to provide the greatest benefit and the least harm.
Intelligent Design
We view design creativity and sustainability as inseparable. Design is the critical stage to incorporate sustainability and minimise the business’s carbon footprint.
Our goal is to embed sustainability in the design process and to innovate continuously to improve our environmental performance.
We aim to provide products which are inherently long-lived in terms of both aesthetic and function. We try to always use materials with the highest recycled content and well-established recycling streams. Materials and finishes are chosen for their ease of maintenance and durability.
We constantly review alternative materials and our production processes to ensure the maximum use of sustainable materials and to minimise waste.
We use renewable energy so that all our in-house production is powered by renewables.
Continuous Improvement
We encourage continuous improvement in all our activities.
We will always seek the most sustainable way forward and continue to assess and modify our methods so that best practice can be achieved. Sustainability is a continuous journey, during which many incremental changes may be made.
Employees are actively encouraged to put forward suggestions for sustainable practice so that even very small changes can be implemented, which could eventually make a considerable difference.
Every employee has a part to play in promoting sustainability so that profit does not come at the expense of the environment.
Sustainability Objectives
The key objectives of sustainability thinking:
Minimise our energy use and CO2 emissions
Our showroom and production facilities draw 100% of their electricity from renewable resources. We keep our supplier miles to a minimum by using local suppliers whenever possible: 99% of our materials suppliers are based in the UK and Europe, with just 1% coming from outside Europe. We encourage staff to car share and cycle to work. We offer employees the Cycle to Work Scheme.
We use scrap wood to heat the factory and aim to install low energy lighting wherever possible.
We are working through a strategy to carefully monitor and calculate our emissions to confirm that we are Carbon Neutral or Negative.
We currently offset our carbon emissions with UK based tree planting projects that are paired with Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) offsets. Through our partnership with the Forest of Avon Trust, Avon Needs Trees and The Woodland Trust, we help to replant the UK’s native woodland and provide education around the importance of trees.
Protect our forests and the biodiversity they support
Our cabinets are built primarily from wood.
We aim to use only the most sustainably and responsibly sourced timber from certified suppliers, including the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), and the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC). We also use FSC certified and recycled paper, and operate a predominantly paperless office using e-sign documents and digital design presentations.
Our Sustainable Kitchens tree dedication scheme ensures the planting and maintenance of trees with each kitchen we supply.
We help to rebuild forests by supporting tree planting projects and deforestation prevention projects.
We try to minimise our use of products containing volatile organic compounds (VOCs) or potentially toxic substances, especially paint. VOCs have a harmful impact on climate change, environmental pollution and human health.
We use materials with low or zero VOC’s, including birch plywood, solid sustainable timber, and water-based paints.
We always opt for the least harmful material, process and finish to help protect air quality, people and the planet.
Generate minimum waste
We work with a waste management partner to send nothing to landfill. Our sawdust is used for composting. All timber offcuts are sent to a scrap store for donations to schools and clubs.
Deliveries to site use very little packaging, which is returned and recycled.
Our kitchens are installed with no plastic or wasteful wrapping. We deliver them in reusable protective packing blankets.
We design high-quality products to last. If a problem arises after installation, we will repair or replace where possible.
We choose materials with the highest possible recycled content and well-established recycling streams. We strive to reuse and recycle wherever possible, committing very little of our workshop materials to waste.
Careful cutting lists and an eye for recycled design mean that very little is wasted.
Wherever we can, we minimise materials so that the fewest resources are used and the least waste is created. We keep our plastic footprint as small as possible, opting for renewable materials wherever we can.
Where we use plastic, our aim is to favour recycled plastic, keep the use of plastics to an absolute minimum, and to reuse or recycle everything we possibly can.
Our eating area for employees has no single-use plastics, plastic plates, cutlery or straws.
We use china cups and plates, and reusable containers for food storage and recycle all other materials.
PHILOSOPHY
We profoundly believe in continuous incremental improvement. We understand that we will never reach sustainable perfection but are constantly striving for a greener future.
LIFETIME USE
Our kitchens are built to last a lifetime backed up by our 30 year guarantee. Invite us back in 10 years for a fresh coat of paint and a quick tune up to keep your kitchen in new condition.
CARBON OFFSETTING
We need to run a van and use electricity in our workshop and design studio but we balance this by investing in forest credits to offset our carbon.
Our workshop runs on 100% renewable energy from Ecotricity and in winter is heated by burning our offcuts.
WASTE
We strive to re-use and recycle wherever and whenever possible committing very little of our workshop materials to waste. Careful cutting lists and an eye for recycled design means nothing is wasted.
Our kitchens are installed with no plastic or wasteful wrapping, we carefully deliver them in reusable protective packing blankets.
HAND PAINTING
We hand paint our kitchens giving them depth and texture. This also means you can easily touch up any marks or choose to repaint the kitchen in time for a fresh lease of life.
We only use water-based paints with low/no VOC. Our favourites are Farrow & Ball, Little Greene and Paint & Paper Library.
Grow it.
It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
NON TOXIC
We use materials with low or zero VOC’s including Birch Plywood, solid sustainable timber and water based paint.
LOCAL
We source our materials as locally as possible. Whether it’s our hardware from Herefordshire or wood from Wiltshire; we have a rich manufacturing history in this country which we all need to champion for tomorrow.
REFORESTATION
Through our partnership with The Forest of Avon Trust, we are helping replant the UK’s native woodland and provide eduction around the importance of trees.
The Sustainable Kitchens tree dedication scheme ensures the planting and maintenance of trees with each kitchen we make.
We are currently helping replant at Colliers Wood, you can take a trip to see the wonderful work that they are doing.

But at Maria Baker Studio we take care of how important is for us as designers as well as for the planet benefit a design from sustainable material. Local materials are used to create from a new unique piece of furniture, patio of flors. We specialise in renovating ‘historic’ spaces already construct so that they can remain alive by giving them another chance and taking care of them with a conservation and sustainable approach design. Micro-algae Farm
Spirulina
The bioreactor façade structure and function at the outside of the micro-program is used for the production of micro-algae. Each of these reactor modules are mounted on a steel frame that is simultaneously used for wiring. These are filled with water in which micro-algae are cultivated. As a nutrient, CO2 is added to the culture it then converts the growing algae.
The design of the program is an ideal shape which lends to the structure and position of the bus shelter and it would reduce the carbon emissions in the area to CO2.
Public Space
VISITORS can collect SPIRULINA BREAD from the bakery and you can also watch the algae grow. The first level of façade structure becomes tables and benches to be enable to people to relax watching the spirulina cultivation. The green colour of the façade shows that the algae are breaking down carbon dioxide and processing it by photosynthesis. The renewable energy production is outside, warmly visible and forms part of the architectural concept.
SPIRULINA can be used as a dietary supplement, added to smoothies, it’s also been explored as a form of food fortification add it to daily staple such as bread, children’s sweets and could help chronic malnutrition in poor counties. It represents a fresh approach to food.
